The Three Ages of Lynch - Lynch's Mob - Part 1

A sigh of relief is heard over the streets of LA. The desolate chaos gives way to a peace which hasn’t been felt for some years. There is the slight sting of regret, but it subsides to the sight of freedom, a sign of hope, and the breaking of chains which bound hands for the best part of a decade.

The Three Ages of Lynch - The Dokken Days Part 2

George Lynch’s lead playing is legendary. He is one of the rare breed of players who has the magic touch. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is about his playing and whether there was some collusion with an other worldly force for him to be able to play the way he can…hmmm, I wonder if he went down to the Crossroads like Ralph Macchio in the film of the same name. Was there a duel with a gentleman named Jack Butler, who just happened to be a spitting image of a certain Mr. Vai??? An interesting thought…

Thin Lizzy Rock Cambridge!

Guest Contributor 'Fishboy' excites over Thin Lizzy at The Cambridge Corn Exchange, Nov 23rd 2007:

What a night – the sound techs usually get the sound so wrong here (e.g. Bullet For My Valentine and Def Leppard in recent years) – but when they get it right, like tonight, The Cambridge Corn Exchange Rocks!

The Heroin Diaries - Nikki Sixx

Nikki Sixx – The Heroin Diaries - A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star

I bought this book at JFK airport and for once wished that the flight to London was longer. Having read and fully enjoyed Motley Crue’s now infamous ‘The Dirt’, I had no doubts that their ringleader could deliver another classic, even if most of it was penned in 1987 in a drug-induced stupor.

Van Halen - Madison Square Gardens NYC

Andy's Review

Being able to write an unbiased review of this gig was always going to be difficult. Having waited the best part of 23 years to have the chance to see Eddie & Dave on the same stage brings a certain level of anticipation and potential blind adulation into the mix. I’d already pretty much decided the gig couldn’t get 5/5 due to a certain Mr Anthony missing. That aside, on Tuesday 13th November 2007, I, along with my All Out Guitar colleague, Rory Sullivan, got to witness 'roth and roll' history….

Rush Live - NEC 12th Oct 2007

The first time that I saw the legendary Rush was in 1983 at Wembley Arena, London. This was my first ever concert and it will remain with me for all my days as a truly seminal moment, well evening. The fourth time that I saw Rush was last week at the NEC in Birmingham UK and nothing has changed much – I even went with the same two friends from 1983.

Alter Bridge - Blackbird

I have looked forward to Alter Bridge’s second release ‘Blackbird’ with some relish and on first listen I was not disappointed. Whether the content was actually any good or not didn’t really matter on first listen, all that mattered was that I got to hear a first class four piece Rock band – such a rare commodity these days. Off the top of your head, think of ten such bands that are present and fresh… so you’re stuck on three then!

The Three Ages of Lynch - Pt1

Guitar virtuoso George Lynch has been gracing the guitar scene for over 30 years. Since his early days on the LA club circuit with his band Exciter to the latest incarnation of his band, simply named "Lynch", he has consistently been out there playing, performing and releasing records. Currently with a new line of signature series Randall USA amps, a signature Eminence Speaker, signature strings and a very long standing relationship with ESP guitars, Lynch is seldom far from the pages of guitar magazines.

Stan Bush - In This Life

stanb_itl_sm.jpg

Stan Bush is a true AOR veteran, with a long track record as both a solo artist and song writer stretching back to the early 1980’s. True AOR of this style is a much derided music in 2007 outside of a select few – Old style Gary Chapman being a prime example.

As someone still with a soft spot for candy coated AOR fluffiness (admittedly in small doses) I was intrigued to hear this new album.

Night Ranger - Hole In The Sun

US stadium rockers Night Ranger return after a 9 year hiatus with their new ‘Hole In The Sun’ album. Famous in the 1980’s for such melodic rock classics as ‘Sister Christian’ and ‘(You Can Still) Rock In America’ – so how do original members Jack Blades, Kelly Keaggy and master twin guitar duo Jeff Watson and Brad Gillis fare in 2007?
