Today's Elevenses Throws Eleven Quick Questions At 'The Dutch Progster' Marcel Coenen!
Marcel Coenen plays in the band Sun Caged who have released three EP's and two albums through Lion Music. Their second album "Artemisia" was released in March 2007. Marcel has also released two solo albums with a third in the pipeline, a live DVD, an instructional DVD and has sessioned extensively.
So what’s your drink of choice at 11am in the morning?
Coffee, Tea or just plain Water mostly.
Which song/album really made you want to play guitar?
I guess it was a few tracks, Vandenberg – Burning Heart was one of them, then also AC/DC “If You Want Blood, You’ve Got It” live album, I was eleven at the time.
Who’s the world’s greatest guitarist?
Hard to say, my taste ranges from mellow to very heavy - a few which I rate as being the greatest: Dimebag Darrell, Joe Satriani, Steve Morse and Eric Johnson!
Who’s the world’s most underrated guitarist?
Fabrizio Bicio Leo and Guthrie Govan.
So what are you up to at the moment?
1. Writing a new solo album.
2. Writing a new Sun Caged album.
3. Learning Fusion/Jazz.
What was the last gig you went to (as a member of the audience)?

How many guitars do your own and which one is ‘your precious’?
Currently I own 5 guitars, 4 electrics all Bo-El MC series (My Signature).
I have 6 and 7 string models and I love them all ☺
What’s the last great album that you bought (or were given)?
Sieges Even - Paramount.
Do you suffer from stage fright?
No ;)
So what’s your drink of choice at 11pm in the evening?
Mojito, Rum/Coke, Tequila/Coke!
